Dog Health issues Part 2

It's very interesting to note that many of the day-to-day foods that humans love are really toxic to dogs and can cause them to have seriously health issues. For example, chocolate is something that appeals to dogs regularly. They love both the aroma and taste of this substance, but when consumed in large amounts it can be deadly to them. The reason behind this is chocolate contains a stimulant drug which has been studied to increase their heart beat and consciousness drastically known as theobromine.

The problem is dogs can not properly digest this chemical substance so this will stay in their bloodstream for vast amounts of time which can cause the dog to have heart complications, increased blood pressure, internal bleeding, and hallucinations.

Just one regular bar of chocolate possibly enough to cause a dog ill or to potentially die from it. Even so, larger dogs can handle chocolate a little better compared to that of smaller dogs, but large amounts can still cause them to have some serious side effects.

In addition, some other foods that a dog's system don't react positively to are foods that are within the grape family like raisins. When a dog consumes too much of these foods and do not respond well to it, it may cause them to have excessive vomiting or to have kidney failure. The exact reason behind this is still some what unknow. It has been confirmed that some dogs have consumed as little as one single raisin and experienced negative effects from this. On the contrary, it has also been confirmed that some dogs have consumed huge amounts of this substance and have displayed zero ill effects.

However, it's a acceptable decision to play it safe and to not permit your dogs to consume any amounts of these food substances because the risk is always there. Likewise, just like humans, dogs can show negative side effects from alcoholic beverages. It is possible for a dog to get drunk, and to also lose coordination. It is also crucial to note that dogs are very sensitive to beer. And that by consuming this beverage may lead them to develop malignant hyperthermia which if not treated may lead to their death.

Lastly, it is essential to note that like humans some dogs may be allergic to some types of foods. This is most likely something that belongs to an individual dog as opposed to a breed as a whole. For instance, just because one dog in a specific breed has a food allergy to one type of substance doesn’t mean that all dogs will that belongs to that specific breed. It's important that an individual is well aware of what foods are dangerous to their dogs and to eliminate it from their presence.
